I was thinking of looking for inspiration in old forums where I had seen people do things like that in the past, but it looks like almost none of the software exists as a free or reasonably-priced solution any more. I've got InSSIDer installed to monitor the perceived signal strength and run a ping to watch for packet loss and jitter, but besides that, I don't have a good way to produce a nice visual report. On occasion I get sent out to a clients to investigate reported dead zones or otherwise audit for signal strength.
NetSpot looks pretty promising and in my price range I should have said "reasonably-priced to me is 50-200" but I see some people have enough related business to justify some really expensive packages, which is pretty cool!
